A submission for the ISTD that looked into celebrating one of the earliest innovators of film: George’s Méliès
The tribute takes the form of a magic set to honour Méliès pre-film magic career from which he then brought over to his filmmaking.
Users can interact and experience Méliès’ magic first hand to learn more about his films and career whilst also channeling their inner Méliès.
The magic set pays tribute to such films as “The Vanishing Lady” which was one of the earliest examples of a substitution splice.
The magic box is supplemented with an instruction booklet which demonstrates to users how to perform the tricks but also educates them about specific films and characters.
